Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and securely raised on jack stands.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Tools and Parts Required
  • Tools Required:

    • Brake bleeder kit or clear plastic tubing
    • Wrench (usually 10mm or 11mm for bleeder screws)
    • Brake fluid (DOT 4 recommended for Mustang)
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Torque wrench (if removing calipers)
  • Parts Required:

    • Brake fluid (DOT 4)
    • New brake bleeder screws (if damaged)
3. Bleeding the Brakes
  1. Locate the Bleeder Screws

    • Find the bleeder screw on each brake caliper (left front, right front, left rear, right rear).
  2. Start with the Farthest Wheel

    • Begin with the right rear caliper.
    • Place one end of the clear tubing onto the bleeder screw and the other end into a container to catch fluid.
  3. Loosen the Bleeder Screw

    • Using the wrench, slightly loosen the bleeder screw while an assistant presses the brake pedal down slowly.
  4. Pump the Brake Pedal

    • Have your assistant pump the brake pedal several times and hold it down.
    • Open the bleeder screw to allow air and old fluid to escape; close the screw before your assistant releases the pedal.
    • Repeat this process until clear, bubble-free fluid flows from the tubing.
  5. Repeat for Remaining Wheels

    • Follow the correct sequence: right rear, left rear, right front, and finally left front.
    • Always check the master cylinder fluid level between each step, adding fluid as necessary to prevent introducing more air.
  6. Finalize and Check

    • Once all wheels are bled, ensure all bleeder screws are tightened.
    • Replace the master cylinder cap and clean up any spilled brake fluid.
