Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: OBD-II scanner, socket set, wrench set, and multimeter.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
2. Disconnect the Battery
  • Using a wrench, disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Wait for at least 5 minutes to allow all systems to reset.
3. Access the Throttle Position Sensor
  • Locate the throttle body on the engine; it is typically situated near the intake manifold.
  • Remove any air intake ducting or components blocking access to the TPS.
4. Remove and Replace the TPS (If Necessary)
  • Unplug the electrical connector from the TPS.
  • Remove the TPS mounting screws using a socket or screwdriver.
  • Install the new TPS by reversing the removal steps.
  • Torque the screws to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 7-10 ft-lbs).
5. Reconnect Everything
  • Reconnect the throttle body air intake ducting and ensure all clamps and connections are secure.
  • Reconnect the negative battery cable.
6. Reset the Throttle Position
  • Turn the ignition to the "On" position without starting the engine.
  • Wait for about 10 seconds, then start the engine.
  • Allow the engine to idle for a few minutes, then turn the steering wheel fully left and right to reset the throttle position.
