Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the replacement.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the engine is off.
  • Safety warning: Always wear safety glasses and gloves when working on the vehicle.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Ensure the vehicle is stable before beginning work.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Using a lug wrench, loosen and remove the lug nuts.
  • Take off the front wheel to access the tie rod ends.
4. Disconnect Tie Rod Ends
  • Locate the outer tie rod end, and use a wrench to remove the nut securing it to the steering knuckle.
  • Use a tie rod puller or a hammer to detach the tie rod from the knuckle without damaging it.
  • Repeat this process for the inner tie rod end by removing the retaining nut and separating it from the steering rack.
5. Install New Tie Rod Ends
  • Apply a small amount of grease to the new tie rod ends.
  • Install the new inner tie rod by threading it into the steering rack and securing it with the retaining nut (torque to manufacturer specifications).
  • Attach the new outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle and secure it with the nut (torque to manufacturer specifications).
6. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
  • Safety warning: Ensure all tools are removed from under the vehicle before lowering.
