Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety.
2. Replace Spark Plugs
  1. Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  2. Use a socket wrench to remove the spark plug wires or ignition coils.
  3. Unscrew and remove the old spark plugs using a spark plug socket.
  4. Check the gap on the new spark plugs and adjust if necessary (typically 0.054 inches for F-150).
  5. Install the new spark plugs and torque them to the manufacturer’s specification (usually 11-15 lb-ft).
  6. Reattach spark plug wires or ignition coils.
3. Clean Throttle Body
  1. Remove the air intake duct connected to the throttle body.
  2. Spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean cloth and wipe the inside of the throttle body. Do not spray directly.
  3. Reinstall the air intake duct, ensuring a tight fit.
4. Inspect and Replace Fuel Filter (if applicable)
  1. Locate the fuel filter (may vary by model year).
  2. Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
  3. Disconnect fuel lines from the filter using a line disconnect tool.
  4. Remove the fuel filter and replace it with a new one, ensuring proper orientation.
  5. Reconnect the fuel lines and reinsert the fuse.
5. Reconnect Battery
  • Reattach the negative battery terminal securely.
