Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues while working on the HVAC system.
2. Replace Cabin Air Filter
  • Tools Required: Screwdriver, new cabin air filter.
  • Open the glove compartment and remove any contents.
  • Locate and unhook the stops on either side of the glove compartment to allow it to drop down.
  • Remove the cover for the cabin air filter (usually secured by clips or screws).
  • Slide out the old filter and inspect for mold or debris.
  • Insert the new filter in the correct orientation (indicated by airflow arrows).
  • Reassemble the cover and glove compartment.
3. Clean HVAC System
  • Tools Required: Spray bottle, all-purpose cleaner or HVAC cleaner.
  • With the system off, spray the cleaner into the air intake vents located at the base of the windshield.
  • Turn on the A/C to the highest setting and allow it to run for 10-15 minutes to circulate the cleaner through the system.
  • Turn off the A/C and let the vehicle air out for a while to dissipate any lingering odors.
4. Check and Clear HVAC Drain
  • Tools Required: Small wrench or pliers.
  • Locate the A/C drain tube underneath the vehicle.
  • Inspect for any blockages or kinks in the hose.
  • If blocked, clear the drain tube to ensure proper drainage of condensation.
