Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the replacement.
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Fuel line disconnect tool
    • OBD-II scanner
    • Clean rags
    • Safety goggles
    • Gloves
  • Parts Required:
    • New fuel injectors (specific to F-150 model)
    • New O-rings (often included with injectors)
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Disconnect the battery before starting work to prevent electrical shock.
    • Relieve fuel system pressure before disconnecting fuel lines.
2. Relieve Fuel System Pressure
  1. Locate the fuel pump relay in the fuse box.
  2. Start the engine and remove the fuel pump relay while the engine is running to stall it.
  3. Turn the ignition off and wait for a few minutes to relieve pressure in the fuel lines.
3. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  1. Use a socket to remove any bolts securing the engine cover.
  2. Lift the cover off and set it aside carefully.
4. Disconnect Fuel Injectors
  1. Locate the fuel rail and identify the injectors.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from each injector by pressing on the release tab.
  3. Using the fuel line disconnect tool, carefully disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail.
5. Remove Fuel Rail
  1. Remove the bolts securing the fuel rail to the intake manifold using a socket.
  2. Gently pull the fuel rail away, ensuring that the injectors come free from the manifold.
6. Replace Fuel Injectors
  1. Remove the old fuel injectors from the fuel rail by pulling them straight out.
  2. Lubricate the new O-rings with clean engine oil.
  3. Insert the new injectors into the fuel rail until they click into place.
7. Reinstall Fuel Rail
  1. Position the fuel rail back onto the intake manifold, ensuring the injectors seat properly.
  2. Reinstall the bolts to secure the fuel rail, tightening to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
8. Reconnect Fuel Lines and Electrical Connectors
  1. Reconnect the fuel line to the fuel rail.
  2. Reattach the electrical connectors to each injector.
9. Reinstall Engine Cover
  1. Position the engine cover back and secure it with the removed bolts.
10. Reconnect Battery and Test
  1. Reconnect the battery terminal.
  2. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position (do not start) to prime the fuel system, and check for leaks around the injectors.
  3. Start the engine and monitor for proper operation.
