Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Flathead screwdriver, multimeter, new battery for the key fob (typically CR2032), OBD-II scanner.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is in park and the ignition is off before performing any repairs.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry open the key fob casing.
  2. Remove the old battery and note its orientation.
  3. Insert the new battery in the same orientation as the old one.
  4. Snap the fob casing back together securely.
3. Reprogram Key Fob
  1. Sit in the driver’s seat and close all doors.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position without starting the engine.
  3. Press the "Lock" button on the key fob within 5 seconds.
  4. Turn the key to the "Off" position and repeat the process for any additional key fobs.
  5. Turn the ignition on and off one last time to complete the programming.
4. Inspect Keyless Entry Receiver Module
  1. Locate the keyless entry module, typically found under the dash or near the driver's side kick panel.
  2. Disconnect the module's electrical connector and inspect for corrosion or damage.
  3. Use a multimeter to check for continuity in the wiring harness.
  4. If necessary, replace the keyless entry receiver module.
