Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Locate the Power Steering Fluid Reservoir
  • Open the hood and locate the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • Clean the area around the reservoir cap to prevent contamination.
3. Remove Old Fluid
  • Use a turkey baster or siphon to remove old power steering fluid from the reservoir.
  • Dispose of the old fluid properly.
4. Refill Power Steering Fluid
  • Fill the reservoir with new power steering fluid as specified in the owner’s manual (usually Type F or Mercon ATF).
  • Do not overfill the reservoir.
5. Bleed the System
  • Start the engine and let it idle.
  • Turn the steering wheel slowly from lock to lock (full left to full right) several times. This will help to push the air out of the system.
  • Keep an eye on the fluid level in the reservoir, adding more fluid as necessary to keep it at the correct level.
6. Check for Air Bubbles
  • After turning the wheel several times, check the fluid for air bubbles.
  • If bubbles are present, continue to turn the wheel from lock to lock until they dissipate.
7. Final Fluid Check
  • Once the steering feels smooth and quiet, turn off the engine.
  • Check the fluid level again and add more if needed. Replace the reservoir cap securely.
