Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, AC manifold gauge set, refrigerant recovery machine, torque wrench, flat-head screwdriver, ratchet and extensions.
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems. Allow the engine to cool before beginning work.
2. Recover Refrigerant
  • Use the refrigerant recovery machine to safely remove refrigerant from the AC system according to EPA regulations.
3. Remove the AC Compressor
  • 3.1 Disconnect the electrical connector from the AC compressor.
  • 3.2 Remove the bolts securing the compressor using the socket set. Keep track of the bolts for reinstallation.
  • 3.3 Disconnect the AC lines from the compressor. Use caution as some residual refrigerant may remain.
  • 3.4 Remove the AC compressor from the mounting brackets and set it aside.
4. Install the New AC Compressor
  • 4.1 Position the new AC compressor in place, aligning it with the mounting brackets.
  • 4.2 Reinstall the AC lines to the new compressor and torque them to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • 4.3 Secure the compressor with the previously removed bolts and torque them to the specified values.
  • 4.4 Reconnect the electrical connector to the compressor.
5. Recharge the AC System
  • Use the manifold gauge set to vacuum the AC system to remove moisture and air. Run the vacuum pump for at least 30 minutes.
  • Recharge the system with the appropriate amount of refrigerant as specified in the owner's manual.
