Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and secure it with jack stands.
  • Safety warning: Disconnect the battery if working on electronic components.
2. Remove the Tie Rod Ends
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench, tie rod end puller, hammer.
  • Use the socket set to remove the nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
  • Use a tie rod end puller to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. If it’s stuck, gently tap the puller with a hammer.
  • Remove the cotter pin (if applicable) and the nut securing the tie rod end to the steering rack.
  • Pull the tie rod end out from the steering rack.
3. Inspect and Replace
  • Inspect the new tie rod end for any visible damage.
  • Apply grease to the new tie rod end if it is not pre-greased.
  • Insert the new tie rod end into the steering rack and secure it with the nut, torquing it to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Reattach the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and secure it with the nut, also torquing to specifications.
  • If applicable, insert a new cotter pin.
4. Alignment
  • After replacing the tie rod ends, have the vehicle's alignment checked and adjusted as necessary to ensure proper handling and tire wear.
