Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel cap and using a fuel pressure gauge.
2. Remove Fuel Tank
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Drain the fuel tank if necessary to reduce weight.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors from the fuel tank.
  • Remove the mounting straps and carefully lower the fuel tank.
3. Inspect and Replace Sending Unit
  • Access the fuel level sending unit located at the top of the fuel tank.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness from the sending unit.
  • Remove the retaining ring using a special tool or a screwdriver.
  • Carefully lift the sending unit out of the tank.
  • Inspect the float arm for damage and ensure it moves freely.
  • Replace with a new sending unit if malfunctioning.
4. Reinstall Fuel Tank
  • Reinsert the new sending unit into the tank and secure it with the retaining ring.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines.
  • Raise the fuel tank back into position and secure it with the mounting straps.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
5. Final Checks
  • Refill the fuel tank and check for leaks around the fuel lines and sending unit.
  • Start the vehicle and monitor the fuel gauge for proper operation.
