Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, socket set, torque wrench, cleaning brush.
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning work to avoid electrical shorts.
2. Address Battery Connections
  1. Remove the negative battery terminal using a wrench.
  2. Inspect the terminal for corrosion; clean it with a wire brush if necessary.
  3. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
3. Replace the Battery (if necessary)
  1. If the battery tests below 12.4V, consider replacing it.
  2. Remove the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal.
  3. Unbolt the battery hold-down clamp and remove the battery from the tray.
  4. Install the new battery in the reverse order of removal and tighten the hold-down clamp.
4. Check and Replace the Alternator (if necessary)
  1. If the alternator output is low, remove the serpentine belt by releasing tension with a wrench on the tensioner pulley.
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness and the battery terminal from the alternator.
  3. Remove the bolts securing the alternator and take it out of the engine compartment.
  4. Install the new alternator and reconnect the wiring harness and battery terminal.
  5. Reinstall the serpentine belt, ensuring it is properly routed around all pulleys.
5. Reset Battery Light
  1. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Use the OBD-II scanner to clear any stored trouble codes that may trigger the battery light.
  3. Start the engine and verify that the battery light is no longer illuminated.
