Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Flathead screwdriver, new key fob battery (usually CR2032), OBD-II scanner.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe environment and the engine is off.
2. Battery Replacement
  1. Using a flathead screwdriver, gently pry open the key fob casing to access the battery compartment.
  2. Remove the old battery and clean any corrosion present in the compartment.
  3. Insert a new battery, ensuring the positive (+) side is facing the correct direction.
  4. Snap the fob casing back together securely.
3. Reprogram Key Fob (if necessary)
  1. Sit inside the vehicle with all doors closed.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position (do not start the engine).
  3. Press the "Lock" button on the key fob for about 2-3 seconds.
  4. Turn the key back to "Off" and remove it from the ignition.
  5. Test the key fob to see if the locking/unlocking function is restored.
4. Inspect Keyless Entry Antenna
  1. Locate the keyless entry antenna, typically found near the rearview mirror or dashboard.
  2. Visually inspect the antenna for any signs of damage or poor connections.
  3. If damaged, replace the antenna using appropriate fasteners and connectors.
5. Clear Fault Codes
  1. Connect the OBD-II scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic port.
  2. Follow the scanner instructions to read and clear any fault codes related to the keyless entry system.
  3. Disconnect the scanner and test the key fob functionality again.
