Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: small flathead screwdriver, new battery (CR2032), and a key fob tester (optional).
  • Ensure you are in a well-lit area to work comfortably.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Use the small flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob casing.
  2. Carefully separate the two halves of the fob to avoid damaging any components.
  3. Locate the battery compartment and remove the old battery.
  4. Insert the new CR2032 battery, ensuring the positive (+) side is facing up.
  5. Align the two halves of the key fob and snap them back together securely.
3. Reprogram Key Fob (if necessary)
  1. Sit in the driver's seat and close all doors.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position (do not start the engine).
  3. Press the "Unlock" button on the driver's door and hold it.
  4. Turn the ignition off and then back to "On" while still holding the "Unlock" button for about 5 seconds.
  5. Release the "Unlock" button and then press it again for 1 second. The locks should cycle indicating successful programming.
4. Test Key Fob Functionality
  1. Step outside the vehicle with the key fob.
  2. Test the lock/unlock buttons from a distance of about 10-15 feet.
  3. Try starting the vehicle with the key fob in your pocket to ensure it is functioning correctly.
