Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, throttle body cleaner, microfiber cloth, safety glasses, gloves.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
2. Remove Air Intake Duct
  1. Locate the air intake duct connecting the air filter to the throttle body.
  2. Use a socket or screwdriver to loosen the clamps or screws securing the duct.
  3. Carefully remove the duct from the throttle body and set it aside.
3. Remove Throttle Body
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle body by pressing the release tab.
  2. Remove any additional sensors or components attached to the throttle body, if necessary.
  3. Use a socket to remove the mounting bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold. Keep track of the bolts for reinstallation.
  4. Carefully lift the throttle body away from the intake manifold.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  1. Spray throttle body cleaner onto a microfiber cloth or directly into the throttle body.
  2. Wipe the inner surface of the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate and surrounding areas to remove carbon deposits.
  3. Open the throttle plate manually to clean the back side. Ensure no cleaner drips into the intake manifold.
  4. Use a soft brush if necessary to scrub stubborn deposits gently.
5. Reinstall Throttle Body
  1. Position the cleaned throttle body back onto the intake manifold.
  2. Reinstall the mounting bolts and tighten them to the manufacturer's specifications (usually 89 in-lbs).
  3. Reconnect any sensors or components removed earlier.
  4. Reattach the electrical connector to the throttle body.
6. Reinstall Air Intake Duct
  1. Position the air intake duct back onto the throttle body.
  2. Secure it with the clamps or screws and ensure it is firmly connected to prevent air leaks.
7. Reconnect Battery
  • Reattach the negative battery terminal and ensure it is secure.
