Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, oil filter wrench, torque wrench, rags, oil catch pan
  • Ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Identify the Leak Source
  • Use a clean rag to wipe areas suspected of leaking.
  • Start the engine and observe for fresh oil leaks; this will help pinpoint the source.
3. Replace Faulty Components

A. Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

  1. Drain the engine oil into the catch pan.
  2. Remove the oil pan bolts using the socket set and carefully detach the oil pan.
  3. Clean the mating surface of the engine block and the oil pan.
  4. Install a new oil pan gasket and reattach the oil pan, torquing the bolts to manufacturer specifications.

B. Valve Cover Gasket Replacement (if applicable)

  1. Remove the valve cover bolts and carefully pull off the valve cover.
  2. Clean the gasket surface on both the valve cover and the engine.
  3. Place a new valve cover gasket and reattach the cover, ensuring proper torque on the bolts.

C. Oil Filter Replacement

  1. Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  2. Apply a thin layer of fresh oil on the rubber O-ring of the new filter and install it.
  3. Ensure it is snug but do not overtighten.
4. Refill Engine Oil
  • Refill the engine with the correct type and amount of oil as specified in the owner's manual.
