Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver set, cleaning cloths, throttle body cleaner, safety glasses, gloves.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting work.
2. Remove Air Intake Hose
  • Locate the air intake hose connected to the throttle body.
  • Use a socket or screwdriver to loosen the clamps securing the hose.
  • Gently remove the hose from the throttle body, taking care not to damage any components.
3. Remove Throttle Body
  • Disconnect any electrical connectors attached to the throttle body.
  • Remove the bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold using a socket set.
  • Carefully lift the throttle body off the manifold, taking care not to damage the gasket.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner directly onto a clean cloth.
  • Wipe the inside of the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate and the surrounding areas to remove carbon build-up.
  • Open the throttle plate manually to clean the back side as well.
  • Ensure all residue is removed and the surface is clean.
5. Reassemble Components
  • Place a new gasket onto the intake manifold if necessary.
  • Position the throttle body in place and secure it with bolts, tightening to the manufacturer’s torque specifications (typically around 89 in-lbs).
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to the throttle body.
  • Reattach the air intake hose and tighten the clamps securely.
6. Final Steps
  • Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes, ensuring the throttle body is functioning correctly.
