Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: gloves, clean cloth, funnel, and transmission fluid if needed.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Checking the Fluid Level
  • Step 1: Start the engine and let it idle until it reaches normal operating temperature (approximately 10 minutes).
  • Step 2: Shift the transmission through all gears, pausing for a few seconds in each position to circulate the fluid, then return to "Park."
  • Step 3: Locate the transmission dipstick. It is usually labeled and located near the rear of the engine bay.
  • Step 4: Carefully pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a cloth.
  • Step 5: Reinsert the dipstick fully and then remove it again to check the fluid level. The fluid should be within the "Hot" range if the engine is warm.
  • Step 6: If the fluid level is low, add the appropriate type of transmission fluid through the dipstick tube using a funnel.
3. Adding Transmission Fluid (if necessary)
  • Step 1: Confirm you have the correct type of transmission fluid, typically Mercon LV for this generation.
  • Step 2: Using a funnel, slowly add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
  • Step 3: Recheck the fluid level after adding to ensure it is within the proper range.
  • Step 4: Replace the dipstick and ensure it is securely in place.
