Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and securely lift the vehicle using jack stands.
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, brake fluid, wrench set, brake bleeder kit
2. Inspect and Replace Brake Fluid
  • Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and check fluid condition; it should be clear and free of contaminants.
  • If fluid is dirty or low, use a wrench to detach the brake line from the master cylinder.
  • Drain the old brake fluid and replace it with new DOT 4 brake fluid, ensuring the reservoir is filled to the proper level.
  • Reattach the brake line securely and replace the reservoir cap.
3. Brake Bleeding
  • Start at the furthest brake from the master cylinder (usually the right rear).
  • Attach the brake bleeder kit to the bleed valve; open the valve and have an assistant press the brake pedal.
  • Close the valve before the pedal is fully released, then repeat until no air bubbles are observed and fluid runs clear.
  • Move to the next brake in order (left rear, right front, left front) and repeat the process.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Components
  • If the soft pedal persists, inspect brake pads and rotors.
  • Remove the wheel and caliper to access the brake pads and rotors.
  • Replace worn brake pads and resurfacing or replacing the rotors as necessary.
  • Reinstall caliper and wheel, ensuring all bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications.
