Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the ignition is off.
  • Wear gloves and safety goggles for protection.
2. Check and Refill Brake Fluid
  • Locate the brake fluid reservoir, typically found near the back of the engine bay.
  • Remove the cap from the reservoir and check the fluid level.
    • If low, use DOT 4 brake fluid (or specified type) to refill to the recommended level.
  • Replace the cap securely.
3. Inspect for Leaks
  • Visually inspect brake lines, calipers, and around the master cylinder for any signs of leaking fluid.
  • If leaks are found, replace the damaged component (e.g., brake line, caliper) as necessary.
4. Replace Brake Pads and/or Rotors (if necessary)
  • Remove the wheel to access the brake assembly.
  • Use a socket set to remove the caliper bolts and lift the caliper off the rotor.
  • Remove the old brake pads and inspect the rotors for wear.
  • Replace the pads and rotors if they are below the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Reinstall the caliper and wheel.
5. Bleed the Brake System
  • If brake fluid was added or components were replaced, bleed the brake system to remove air.
  • Start with the wheel farthest from the master cylinder. Use a brake bleeder tool or have an assistant pump the brake pedal while you open the bleeder valve.
  • Continue until clear fluid with no bubbles comes out, then tighten the valve.
  • Repeat for each wheel in order: rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, front driver.
