Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is turned off.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which wheel bearing is being replaced.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the lug nuts.
  • Take off the wheel and set it aside.
4. Remove the Brake Components
  • Remove the brake caliper by unbolting it from the bracket (typically requires a socket set).
  • Suspend the caliper using a bungee cord or similar, do not let it hang by the brake line.
  • Remove the brake rotor by unbolting it from the hub if applicable.
5. Remove the Hub Assembly
  • Remove any retaining clips or bolts securing the hub assembly.
  • Disconnect the ABS sensor if applicable.
  • Use a hub puller if necessary to remove the old wheel bearing from the hub.
6. Install the New Wheel Bearing
  • Clean the mating surfaces and apply a small amount of anti-seize lubricant.
  • Press or tap the new wheel bearing into place ensuring it's seated properly.
  • Reinstall the hub assembly, making sure all bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications.
7. Reassemble the Brake Components
  • Reinstall the brake rotor and caliper.
  • Make sure all components are secured and torqued correctly.
8. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts, then lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
9. Test Drive
  • Perform a test drive to ensure the noise is resolved and check for proper operation.
