Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Check and Replace Transmission Fluid
  • Step 1: Remove the transmission fluid dipstick and check fluid level.
  • Step 2: If low, add the appropriate transmission fluid (refer to owner's manual for specifications).
  • Step 3: If fluid appears burnt or dirty, proceed to drain and replace.
  • Step 4: Place a drain pan under the transmission pan, remove the pan bolts, and drain the old fluid.
  • Step 5: Replace the transmission filter and clean the pan before reinstallation.
3. Inspect and Replace Transmission Solenoids
  • Step 1: Remove the transmission pan to access solenoids.
  • Step 2: Disconnect the electrical connectors from the solenoids.
  • Step 3: Remove the solenoid retaining bolts and take out the solenoids.
  • Step 4: Install new solenoids in reverse order and torque to manufacturer specifications.
  • Step 5: Reinstall the transmission pan with a new gasket.
4. Refill and Test Drive
  • Step 1: Reconnect the battery.
  • Step 2: Refill the transmission with the appropriate fluid.
  • Step 3: Start the engine and let it idle while shifting through all gears to circulate fluid.
  • Step 4: Check for leaks and ensure the fluid level is correct.
  • Step 5: Take the vehicle for a test drive to confirm proper engagement.
