Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which brake pads are being replaced.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts.
  • Take off the wheel to access the brake assembly.
4. Remove Old Brake Pads
  • Locate the caliper assembly and remove the bolts using a socket wrench.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it with a bungee cord or rope to prevent strain on the brake line.
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
5. Inspect and Clean
  • Inspect the caliper and rotor for damage or excessive wear.
  • Clean the caliper bracket with brake cleaner to remove dust and debris.
6. Install New Brake Pads
  • Apply anti-squeal grease to the back of the new brake pads.
  • Position the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and secure it with the caliper bolts. Torque to manufacturer specifications (typically around 25 Nm).
7. Reassemble Vehicle
  • Reattach the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications (generally around 120 Nm).
8. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the new pads against the rotors.
