Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Car jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and safety glasses.
  • Secure the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels.
  • Lift the vehicle with a car jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the rear wheels.
3. Remove the Brake Caliper
  • Locate the caliper mounting bolts with a socket set.
  • Remove the caliper bolts and carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor.
  • Support the caliper with a bungee cord or hang it to prevent stress on the brake line.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • If the pads are worn below the minimum thickness (usually 3 mm), replace them with new ones.
  • Apply brake grease to the backing of the new pads (avoid the friction surface).
  • Reinstall the brake pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Inspect and Replace Rotors (if necessary)
  • If the rotors are damaged or worn beyond specifications, remove them using the socket set.
  • Clean the hub surface with brake cleaner before installing new rotors.
  • Install the new rotors and torque them to the manufacturer's specifications.
6. Reinstall the Caliper
  • Position the caliper over the new brake pads and rotor.
  • Install the caliper mounting bolts and tighten them to the recommended torque specifications.
  • Reinstall the rear wheels, hand-tightening the lug nuts.
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque using the torque wrench.
