Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • OBD-II scanner
    • Multimeter
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Wire harness repair kit (if necessary)
  1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shock and short circuits.
  2. Raise the vehicle safely using jack stands if access to the sensor is from underneath.
2. Remove the Faulty O2 Sensor
  1. Locate the upstream oxygen sensor (Bank 1) on the exhaust manifold.
  2. Using the appropriate socket, carefully unscrew the O2 sensor from its position.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the O2 sensor by pressing the release tab and pulling it apart.
3. Inspect and Replace
  1. Inspect the old sensor for any signs of damage or contamination.
  2. If the wiring is damaged, use a wire harness repair kit to fix any issues.
  3. Install the new oxygen sensor into the exhaust manifold, ensuring it is threaded properly.
  4. Tighten the sensor to the manufacturer's torque specification (usually around 30-40 Nm).
4. Reconnect and Test
  1. Reconnect the electrical connector to the new oxygen sensor, ensuring it clicks into place.
  2. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  3. Clear the P0135 code using the OBD-II scanner.
