Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, jack stands, floor jack, torque wrench, strut spring compressor, screwdriver set, and clean rags.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely lifted with jack stands. Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front or rear wheel (depending on which strut is leaking).
  • Use a floor jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel completely and set it aside.
3. Remove Strut Assembly
  • 3.1 Locate and remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle using a socket set.
  • 3.2 Remove any clips or bolts securing the brake line to the strut.
  • 3.3 Disconnect the strut from the upper mount by removing the nuts located in the engine bay or under the dash.
  • 3.4 Carefully pull the strut assembly out of the wheel well.
4. Replace Strut
  • 4.1 If the strut is damaged, use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the coil spring.
  • 4.2 Remove the old strut from the spring and install the new strut. Ensure the spring is seated correctly.
  • 4.3 Reinstall the strut assembly back into the vehicle, reversing the removal steps.
  • 4.4 Torque all nuts and bolts to the manufacturer specifications.
5. Reinstall Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
6. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Check for any leaks around the new struts after installation.
