Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Inspect and Replace Wheel Speed Sensor
  1. Raise the Vehicle:

    • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which wheel speed sensor is faulty.
    • Secure with jack stands.
  2. Remove Wheel:

    • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  3. Access Wheel Speed Sensor:

    • Locate the wheel speed sensor mounted on the brake rotor or hub assembly.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.
  4. Remove Old Sensor:

    • Remove the bolt securing the wheel speed sensor using a socket.
    • Gently pull the sensor out of its mounting position.
  5. Install New Sensor:

    • Insert the new wheel speed sensor into the mounting hole.
    • Secure it with the bolt and tighten to the manufacturer’s torque specifications (typically around 8-10 Nm).
    • Reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Reassemble and Test
  1. Reattach Wheel:

    • Place the wheel back on the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
    • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 120 Nm).
  2. Reconnect Battery:

    • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it's tight.
  3. Clear Error Codes:

    • Use an OBD-II scanner to clear the C0020 code from the system.
