Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting.
2. Remove MAF Sensor
  • Locate the MAF sensor: it is typically found between the air filter and the intake manifold.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the release tab and pulling it off.
  • Use a screwdriver to loosen the clamps securing the sensor to the intake duct.
  • Carefully remove the MAF sensor from its housing.
3. Inspect and Clean
  • Inspect the MAF sensor for physical damage or contamination.
  • If cleaning is necessary, spray MAF sensor cleaner onto the sensing elements and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
  • Avoid touching the sensing elements with fingers or tools.
4. Install New or Cleaned MAF Sensor
  • Position the MAF sensor back into the intake duct.
  • Re-secure the clamps to hold the sensor in place. Ensure they are tightened to manufacturer specifications (typically around 8-10 Nm).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks into place.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes.
  • Monitor for any abnormal sounds or issues.
