Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Fluid Change
  • Drain Old Transmission Fluid:
    • Locate the transmission pan and remove the drain plug or pan bolts.
    • Allow the old fluid to completely drain into a suitable container.
  • Replace Transmission Filter:
    • Remove the transmission pan completely.
    • Replace the old filter with a new one, ensuring the new filter is seated properly.
  • Reinstall Transmission Pan:
    • Clean the mating surface of the pan and install a new gasket.
    • Torque the pan bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 8-10 Nm).
3. Check and Replace Components
  • Inspect and Replace TCM:
    • If error codes indicate a TCM issue, disconnect the battery again.
    • Remove the TCM from its mounting location and disconnect the electrical connectors.
    • Install the new TCM and reconnect all electrical connections.
  • Replace Brake Switch (if necessary):
    • Remove the old brake switch located near the brake pedal.
    • Install the new brake switch and ensure it functions correctly.
4. Fluid Fill
  • Refill Transmission Fluid:
    • Use a funnel to fill the transmission with the manufacturer-recommended fluid type until it reaches the proper level as indicated by the dipstick.
    • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes, shifting through all gears while checking fluid level again.
