Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, oil pressure gauge, socket set, wrench set, oil catch pan, new oil filter, fresh engine oil.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues during the repair.
2. Check and Top Off Engine Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap and check the oil level with the dipstick.
    • If low, top off the engine oil with the manufacturer-recommended oil type.
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • With the engine off and cool, locate the oil filter.
  • Using an oil filter wrench, remove the old oil filter.
  • Apply a thin layer of fresh oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter, tightening it by hand until snug, then an additional 3/4 turn.
4. Inspect and Replace Oil Pressure Switch (if needed)
  • Locate the oil pressure switch, typically near the oil filter.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the oil pressure switch.
  • Use a socket to remove the old oil pressure switch.
  • Install the new oil pressure switch and reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Check and Replace Oil Pump (if needed)
  • If low oil pressure persists, drain the oil and remove the oil pan.
  • Inspect the oil pump for debris or damage.
  • If defective, remove the oil pump and replace it with a new unit following the manufacturer's specifications for torque and installation.
6. Refill Engine Oil and Test
  • Reinstall the oil pan with a new gasket and torque to specifications.
  • Refill the engine with the appropriate amount of fresh engine oil.
  • Reconnect the battery and start the engine.
  • Check for any leaks and monitor the oil pressure warning light.
