Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface, and the ignition is off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical short circuits.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels using a socket set.
3. Remove and Inspect Tie Rods
  • Outer Tie Rod:

    1. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the nut securing the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle.
    2. Use a tie rod puller or hammer to separate the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
    3. Remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod by unscrewing it; note the number of turns for reinstallation.
  • Inner Tie Rod:

    1. If replacing the inner tie rod, use a tie rod tool to unscrew the inner tie rod from the steering rack.
    2. Inspect the thread condition; if damaged, replacement is necessary.
4. Install New Tie Rods
  • Outer Tie Rod:

    1. Screw the new outer tie rod onto the inner tie rod, using the same number of turns noted during removal.
    2. Reattach the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle and tighten the nut to the manufacturer's torque specification (typically around 40 Nm).
  • Inner Tie Rod:

    1. Install the new inner tie rod onto the steering rack, tightening to the specified torque.
    2. Ensure all components are secure and aligned properly.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  1. Reinstall the front wheels and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
  2. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and remove the jack.
  3. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
