Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels for safety.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which struts are being inspected.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands.
3. Inspect Struts
  • Visual Inspection: Check for any fluid leaks around the strut seal. Look for wetness or oil on the strut body.
  • Bounce Test: Push down firmly on the vehicle and release. Observe how many times the vehicle bounces; it should settle quickly with minimal bouncing.
4. Replace Struts (if leaking)
  • Remove Wheel: Use a lug wrench to remove the wheel covering the strut.
  • Disconnect Strut:
    • Remove the bolts holding the strut to the steering knuckle using a socket set.
    • Disconnect any sway bar links or other components attached to the strut.
  • Remove Strut Assembly:
    • Unscrew the top strut mount bolts located in the engine compartment or under the rear seat (depending on whether it’s front or rear).
    • Carefully remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.
  • Install New Strut:
    • Position the new strut in place and secure it to the strut tower with the mounting bolts.
    • Reattach the lower part of the strut to the steering knuckle and tighten bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reattach Wheel: Put the wheel back on and tighten the lug nuts.
5. Lower the Vehicle
  • Remove jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
