Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Lug wrench
    • Torque wrench
    • Socket set
    • Brake cleaner
    • C-clamp or brake caliper tool
    • Screwdriver
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely lifted before working.
    • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Remove Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  2. Use the jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  3. Remove the lug nuts completely and take the wheel off.
3. Remove Brake Caliper
  1. Locate the caliper mounting bolts on the rear of the caliper.
  2. Use the socket set to remove the caliper bolts.
  3. Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it with a bungee cord or strap to avoid straining the brake line.
4. Remove Old Brake Pads and Rotor
  1. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  2. If necessary, remove the caliper bracket by loosening the mounting bolts.
  3. Slide the rotor off the hub; if it's stuck, use a rubber mallet to gently tap it free.
5. Install New Rotor
  1. Clean the new rotor with brake cleaner to remove any protective coating.
  2. Slide the new rotor onto the hub, ensuring it sits flush.
6. Install New Brake Pads
  1. If applicable, apply brake grease to the back of the new brake pads to reduce noise.
  2. Place the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
  3. Reinstall the caliper bracket if it was removed.
7. Reinstall Brake Caliper
  1. Use the C-clamp or brake caliper tool to compress the caliper piston back into the caliper housing.
  2. Position the caliper over the new pads and rotor.
  3. Reinstall the caliper mounting bolts and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque.
8. Reinstall Wheel
  1. Place the wheel back onto the hub.
  2. Hand-tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern.
  3. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and use the torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
