Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, brake cleaner, caliper tool, torque wrench.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery.
  • Allow the vehicle to cool if it has been driven recently.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Use the jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the rear wheel.
3. Remove Brake Caliper
  • Remove the caliper mounting bolts using a socket set.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it with a bungee cord or rope (do not let it hang by the brake line).
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Inspect the brake pad wear indicators; if they are flush with the pad surface, replacement is necessary.
  • If replacement is needed, install new brake pads according to the manufacturer’s specifications, ensuring they are properly seated.
5. Inspect and Replace Rotors (if necessary)
  • If the rotor is damaged or below the minimum thickness, remove it by unscrewing the retaining screws (if present) and sliding it off the hub.
  • Install the new rotor, ensuring it is seated properly and tighten the retaining screws to manufacturer's torque specifications.
6. Reassemble and Bleed Brakes
  • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
  • If brake fluid was lost, bleed the brakes using a brake bleeder kit to remove any air from the brake lines.
  • Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to the specified torque.
7. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the battery and lower the vehicle.
  • Test the brake pedal feel by pressing it several times before driving.
