Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Wear safety goggles and gloves.
2. Raise Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel for access to brake components.
3. Remove Brake Components
  • Brake Caliper Removal

    • Use a socket set to remove the caliper mounting bolts.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it with a bungee cord to avoid straining the brake line.
  • Brake Pad Removal

    • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
    • Inspect the brake pads for wear; if they are worn down to the indicator, they need replacement.
4. Inspect and Replace Rotors (if necessary)
  • Check the rotor surface for any scoring or uneven wear.
  • If damaged, remove the rotor by unscrewing the retaining screws (if equipped) and pulling the rotor off.
  • Install a new rotor by sliding it onto the hub and securing it with screws.
5. Install New Brake Pads
  • Apply brake grease to the backs of the new brake pads to reduce noise.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
6. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and tighten the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications (typically around 25-30 Nm).
  • Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
7. Test Brake System
  • Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the pads against the rotor.
  • Check brake fluid level and top off if necessary.
