Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery and wait for at least 10 minutes to allow the system to discharge.
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, socket set, multimeter, torque wrench, wiring repair kit as necessary.
2. Inspect Wiring and Connectors
  • Remove the driver's seat to access the airbag connectors below.
  • Inspect the connectors for damage or corrosion and clean as necessary.
  • If damaged, repair or replace the wiring using a wiring repair kit.
  • Reconnect all connectors securely.
3. Replace Faulty Components
  • If diagnostics indicated a faulty seat occupancy sensor, proceed to replace it:
    • Remove the seat cushion to access the sensor.
    • Disconnect the sensor connector and remove the sensor.
    • Install the new sensor in reverse order and reconnect the harness.
  • If the airbag control module is faulty, replace it:
    • Remove the trim panel to access the module.
    • Disconnect the battery again for safety.
    • Remove the airbag control module bolts, disconnect the harness, and replace it with a new module.
    • Reinstall everything ensuring proper torque specifications are followed.
4. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the battery terminals securely.
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear any stored codes.
  • Perform a test drive to ensure the airbag warning light does not re-illuminate.
