Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and safety goggles.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety before starting any work.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly with the lug wrench.
  • Jack up the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect Brake Components
  • Brake Pads:
    • Remove the caliper bolts using the socket set and slide the caliper off the rotor.
    • Inspect the brake pads for thickness; replace if they are worn down to 3mm or less.
  • Brake Rotors:
    • Check the rotors for wear; if grooves or warping are visible, they should be resurfaced or replaced.
  • Brake Calipers:
    • Ensure the calipers move freely; if they are seized, they need to be replaced.
4. Replace Brake Pads and/or Rotors
  • If pads are worn out:
    • Remove old pads and install new pads, ensuring they are correctly oriented.
    • Apply brake grease to the back of the pads to reduce noise.
  • If rotors are damaged:
    • Remove the old rotor and install a new rotor, making sure to torque the rotor retaining screws to manufacturer specifications.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and torque the caliper bolts to the specified torque.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specification.
