Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Brake cleaner
  • C-clamp or brake caliper tool
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel completely to access the brake assembly.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspect Brake Pads:
    • Check for uneven wear and measure pad thickness.
  • Remove Brake Caliper:
    • Use a socket to remove the caliper bolts.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor; support it with a bungee cord to avoid straining the brake line.
  • Remove Old Brake Pads:
    • Slide the pads out of the caliper bracket.
  • Install New Brake Pads:
    • Apply brake lubricant to the back of the new pads.
    • Insert the new pads into the caliper bracket.
4. Reassemble Brake Components
  • Reinstall Caliper:
    • Compress the caliper piston using a C-clamp if necessary.
    • Position the caliper over the new pads and tighten the caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • Reattach Wheel:
    • Place the wheel back on the hub.
    • Hand-tighten the lug nuts and then lower the vehicle off the jack stands.
5. Final Checks
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
  • Check brake fluid level and top off if necessary.
  • Test the brakes gently before driving normally.
