Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues.
2. Inspect and Replace Hoses
  • Inspect hoses: Visually check all hoses connected to the coolant system for cracks or bulges.
  • Replace damaged hoses:
    • Use a hose clamp removal tool to loosen and remove the faulty hose.
    • Install a new hose, ensuring it is properly secured with hose clamps.
3. Repair or Replace Radiator
  • Check radiator: Look for visible leaks or corrosion.
  • Replace radiator if necessary:
    • Drain the coolant by removing the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.
    • Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses and any electrical connections.
    • Remove mounting bolts and lift the radiator out.
    • Install the new radiator and reconnect hoses and electrical connections.
    • Refill the coolant system.
4. Inspect and Replace Water Pump
  • Check water pump: Look for signs of coolant leaks around the water pump shaft.
  • Replace water pump if necessary:
    • Drain coolant as described above.
    • Remove any belts connected to the water pump.
    • Unbolt the water pump from the engine block and carefully remove it.
    • Clean the mounting surface on the engine.
    • Install a new water pump with a new gasket and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
5. Final Assembly
  • Refill the cooling system with the appropriate coolant mixture.
  • Bleed the system to remove any air pockets.
  • Reconnect the battery.
