Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, socket set, flathead screwdriver, torx driver set.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a secure position with the ignition off.
2. Remove Ignition Switch
  • Locate the ignition switch assembly, typically found near the steering column.
  • Use the appropriate torx driver to remove any screws securing the plastic covers around the ignition area.
  • Gently pry off the plastic covers to expose the ignition switch.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition switch by pressing the release tab and pulling it out.
  • Remove the ignition switch from its mounting position.
3. Inspect and Replace
  • Tools Required: Multimeter.
  • Inspect the old ignition switch for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion on terminals.
  • If faulty, install the new ignition switch by reversing the removal steps.
  • Connect the electrical connector to the new ignition switch, ensuring it clicks into place.
  • Reassemble the plastic covers and secure them with screws.
4. Test the New Ignition Switch
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition key to the "on" position and check for dashboard lights.
  • Attempt to start the engine to ensure the new ignition switch operates correctly.
