Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and parked on a level surface.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Check and Top Off Engine Oil
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, funnel, clean rags
  • Remove the oil filler cap and check the oil level with the dipstick.
  • If low, add the appropriate type and grade of oil as per the owner's manual.
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
3. Replace Oil Filter (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, oil catch pan
  • Place the oil catch pan under the oil filter.
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten according to specifications (typically 3/4 turn after the gasket makes contact).
4. Replace Engine Oil (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, oil catch pan, funnel
  • Drain the old oil by removing the oil drain plug with the socket set and allowing it to drain completely into the oil catch pan.
  • Reinstall the oil drain plug and torque to specifications.
  • Add new engine oil through the oil filler cap using a funnel, following the manufacturer’s recommended oil capacity.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes while checking for leaks.
  • Monitor the oil pressure light on the dashboard.
