Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, basic socket set, screwdrivers
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical short circuits.
2. Access the Fuel Sending Unit
  • Remove the rear seat or access panel to reach the fuel tank access.
  • Use the socket set to remove any screws or bolts securing the cover.
  • Lift the cover to expose the fuel sending unit.
3. Inspect and Test the Fuel Sending Unit
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel sending unit.
  • Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the fuel level sensor:
    • Resistance should change as the float moves; if not, the sensor may be faulty.
  • If the sensor is faulty, proceed to the next step.
4. Replace the Fuel Sending Unit
  • Remove the fuel sending unit by unscrewing the retaining ring.
  • Carefully lift the sending unit out of the tank.
  • Install the new fuel sending unit into the tank and secure it with the retaining ring to the specified torque (usually around 15-20 Nm).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the access cover and any other components removed.
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the vehicle and check the fuel gauge operation.
