Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical components.
2. Replace Cabin Air Filter
  • Tools Required: Flathead screwdriver, replacement cabin air filter.
  • Steps:
    1. Open the glove compartment and remove any contents.
    2. Locate the tabs on the side of the glove compartment and gently push them in to lower the compartment down.
    3. Remove the cover of the cabin air filter housing.
    4. Take out the old cabin air filter and install the new one, ensuring proper orientation.
    5. Reassemble the glove compartment and secure all tabs.
3. Check and Replace Thermostat
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, new thermostat, gasket sealant (if applicable).
  • Steps:
    1. Locate the thermostat housing, typically near the engine block.
    2. Drain the coolant from the radiator until the level is below the thermostat.
    3. Remove the thermostat housing bolts and lift off the housing.
    4. Take out the old thermostat and replace it with a new one, ensuring the gasket is properly seated.
    5. Reattach the thermostat housing and torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications.
    6. Refill the coolant and bleed the system to remove any air pockets.
4. Flush Heater Core
  • Tools Required: Hose, bucket, coolant.
  • Steps:
    1. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core located in the engine bay.
    2. Use a garden hose to flush water through the heater core in both directions until clean fluid runs out.
    3. Reconnect the heater hoses and ensure there are no leaks.
    4. Refill the coolant system as necessary.
