Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor, impact wrench (if available), safety goggles, gloves.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues while working.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle as required.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure stability during the repair.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use the socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the strut assembly.
4. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • 4.1. Detach the brake line and ABS sensor wire from the strut.

    • Use a socket to unbolt any clips holding the brake line and ABS wire.
  • 4.2. Unbolt the strut from the steering knuckle.

    • Remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle using the impact wrench or socket set. Be cautious and support the knuckle as you remove the last bolt.
  • 4.3. Unbolt the strut at the top mount.

    • Open the hood and locate the strut mount under the hood. Remove the nuts securing the strut mount using the socket set.
5. Replace the Strut
  • 5.1. Compress the coil spring.

    • Using the strut spring compressor, carefully compress the coil spring on the old strut.
  • 5.2. Remove the old strut from the spring.

    • Once the spring is safely compressed, unbolt the strut from the spring perch and remove the strut.
  • 5.3. Install the new strut.

    • Place the new strut into the coil spring and secure it using the appropriate bolts.
6. Reassemble the Strut Assembly
  • 6.1. Reinstall the strut assembly.

    • Position the strut back into the vehicle, securing it at the top mount first.
  • 6.2. Secure the strut to the steering knuckle.

    • Reattach the strut to the steering knuckle and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
  • 6.3. Reattach the brake line and ABS sensor wire.

    • Ensure that all components are reattached securely.
7. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
8. Final Checks
  • Once the vehicle is on the ground, recheck all bolts and connections for tightness.
