💡 Expert Tip

For complex repairs like this, consider taking photos at each step. This helps if you need to reverse a step or consult with a mechanic. Also, keep all removed parts organized - you may need to reference them during reassembly.

Verification

After completing the repair, verify that the issue has been resolved:

  • ✓Test the affected component to ensure it functions correctly
  • ✓Check for any error codes or warning lights
  • ✓Monitor the vehicle for a few days to ensure the issue does not recur

Prevention Tips

To prevent this issue from occurring again:

  • •Follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule
  • •Address warning signs early before they develop into major issues
  • •Use quality parts and fluids recommended for your vehicle
  • •Keep detailed records of all repairs and maintenance

Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, ratchet, anti-seize compound, compressed air (optional).
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting work to avoid burns.
  • Disconnect the battery (negative terminal) to avoid electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Use a socket set to remove any bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coil cover (if applicable) and remove it using the socket set.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition coils by pressing the release tab.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Use the appropriate socket to remove the bolts securing each ignition coil (usually 10mm).
  • Gently pull the ignition coils out of the spark plug wells. If they are stuck, use a twisting motion to free them.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to carefully unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect the old spark plugs for signs of wear or damage. Clean the spark plug wells with compressed air to remove debris.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs (if required).
  • Carefully thread each new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually around 23 Nm, but verify in the service manual).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Place the ignition coils back into their respective positions.
  • Secure them with the bolts removed earlier and reconnect the electrical connectors.
8. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Replace the ignition coil cover (if applicable) and secure it with bolts.
  • Reinstall the engine cover and tighten the bolts.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
