Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely parked.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues during the process.
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake pad spreader, C-clamp, and a bungee cord.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  1. Loosen the lug nuts on the front or rear wheel where brake pads will be replaced.
  2. Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  3. Remove the wheel completely.
3. Remove the Brake Caliper
  1. Locate the caliper mounting bolts (typically 2 bolts) and remove them using the socket set.
  2. Carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor.
  3. Support the caliper using a bungee cord to avoid stress on the brake line.
4. Replace the Brake Pads
  1. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  2. Compress the caliper piston using a C-clamp or brake pad spreader to make space for the new pads.
  3. Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket ensuring they are seated properly.
5. Reinstall the Brake Caliper
  1. Slide the caliper back over the new brake pads.
  2. Align the caliper and tighten the mounting bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 25-35 Nm).
  3. Ensure the caliper moves freely and that there are no obstructions.
6. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  1. Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts by hand.
  2. Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands.
  3. Tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually 100-120 Nm).
7. Final Checks
  1. Reconnect the battery if disconnected.
  2. Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the brake pads against the rotor.
  3. Check the brake fluid level and top off if necessary.
