Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, battery terminal cleaner, multimeter
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the key fob to prevent accidental start.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Disconnect the Old Battery
  • Open the hood and locate the battery.
  • Use a 10mm socket to loosen the negative terminal (black). Remove the cable and tuck it away.
  • Repeat the process for the positive terminal (red).
  • Remove any battery hold-down clamps using the appropriate socket size.
3. Remove the Old Battery
  • Carefully lift the old battery out of the tray, ensuring to maintain a firm grip as batteries can be heavy.
  • Place the old battery in a safe area away from flammable materials.
4. Install the New Battery
  • Position the new battery in the battery tray, ensuring it is secured in the correct orientation (positive terminal should be on the left if applicable).
  • Reinstall the battery hold-down clamps and tighten them to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually around 10-12 Nm).
5. Connect the New Battery
  • Attach the positive terminal first. Slide it onto the terminal and tighten with a 10mm socket.
  • Connect the negative terminal next and tighten securely.
  • Clean any corrosion from the terminals using a battery terminal cleaner before securing.
6. Reset the Battery Management System (BMS)
  • If applicable, use a diagnostic tool to reset the BMS, ensuring that the vehicle’s electrical system recognizes the new battery.
