Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Lug wrench
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Spring compressor (if necessary)
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface before lifting.
    • Always use jack stands for safety once the vehicle is lifted.
2. Remove the Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  2. Raise the vehicle using a jack.
  3. Secure the vehicle with jack stands.
  4. Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Remove the Shock Absorber
  1. Locate the upper and lower mounting points of the shock absorber.
  2. Use a socket set to remove the nuts/bolts at both ends.
  3. If necessary, compress the spring using a spring compressor to relieve tension.
  4. Carefully remove the shock absorber from its mount.
4. Install New Shock Absorber
  1. Position the new shock absorber into place.
  2. Install the lower mounting bolt and tighten to the manufacturer's specifications (consult service manual for torque values).
  3. Attach the upper mounting hardware and tighten as specified.
  4. If the spring was compressed, ensure it is properly seated before removing the compressor.
5. Reinstall the Wheel
  1. Place the wheel back onto the hub.
  2. Hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  3. Lower the vehicle off the jack stands.
  4. Use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
6. Final Checks
  1. Inspect the area for any tools left behind.
  2. Test the vehicle's suspension by gently pressing down on the corners to verify the shock is functioning properly.
