Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and set to "Park."
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Change Transmission Fluid
  • Tools: Socket set, torque wrench, fluid pump, drain pan, funnel.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts using a socket wrench.
  • Carefully lower the pan and allow old fluid to drain completely into a drain pan.
  • Inspect the pan for metal shavings or debris which may indicate internal wear.
  • Replace the transmission filter if applicable. Install the new filter and secure it in place.
  • Clean the transmission pan and replace the gasket if it is damaged.
3. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Using a fluid pump, refill the transmission with the manufacturer-recommended fluid type (check owner's manual for specifications).
  • Ensure the fluid level is at the correct level by checking the dipstick.
  • Reattach the transmission pan and torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications.
4. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the battery terminals.
  • Start the engine and allow it to warm up; shift through all gears to ensure proper function.
  • Monitor for any leaks around the transmission pan and check for error codes.
