Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the battery.
2. Inspect and Repair Leaks
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, brake cleaner, rags.
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Visually inspect all brake lines, calipers, and the master cylinder for leaks.
    2. If leaks are found, replace the damaged brake lines or seals as necessary.
    3. Clean any spilled brake fluid with brake cleaner and rags.
3. Bleed the Brake System
  • Tools Required: Brake bleeder kit, clear tubing, brake fluid (DOT 4).
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Fill the master cylinder reservoir with fresh brake fluid.
    2. Starting from the wheel furthest from the master cylinder, attach the clear tubing to the bleeder screw on the brake caliper.
    3. Open the bleeder screw and pump the brake pedal several times until no air bubbles are visible in the tubing.
    4. Tighten the bleeder screw and repeat the process on the remaining wheels in order (furthermost to nearest).
    5. After all wheels are bled, check the brake fluid level and top off as necessary.
4. Inspect and Replace the Master Cylinder (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, new master cylinder, brake fluid.
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect brake lines from the master cylinder and remove the mounting bolts.
    2. Replace with a new master cylinder, ensuring proper alignment with the brake booster.
    3. Reconnect brake lines and tighten to manufacturer specifications.
    4. Bleed the brake system again to remove any air.
